That picture up above. Here’s the truth…
That’s me on a *fantastic, just got my hair done day*, taken by my best friend. Don’t think I look like this every day. Seriously, who really looks like their head-shot all the time? I don’t, more often I’m in a geeky t-shirt and comfortable jeans and let’s not get started on my hair, but the truth is I’m astonishingly okay with that. I’m comfortable with being comfortable, secretly I actually rock that look (or at least that’s what I keep telling myself) but I’ll be honest with you I wasn’t always like that.
Growing up I’ve always been an introvert at heart keeping myself to myself. Before college I was that cuddly (I like to say cuddly, but you know what I mean) geeky little girl with the big dreams. I wanted to be an astronaut (yes even at the age of 12) I wanted to do and become so many things, my dreams had no limits or boundaries.
My classmates use to laugh about it, I was known as the *big* dreamer. I remember always being asked even by my teachers, do you really believe you can do all of that? And yeah I did, I still do. I’m not saying that I didn’t have my fair share of moments where I lived in self-doubt, where I thought what am I doing? Because I did everybody does, but I learnt how not to stay in that zone for too long
From a young age I knew I wanted to be my own boss, earn enough to be comfortable and not need or want to rely on anyone to get me the things I wanted, a nice car, a home and most importantly financial security. So what did I do? I went on to finish University with a Masters in Pharmacy, but I didn’t want to stop there. There was more I wanted to do. I gained my diploma in Cosmetic Chemistry and began selling my own range of natural skin & hair care products all whist I was still working freelance.
I was comfortably living on my own, not worrying about bills or budgeting, I took time out to travel (to discover myself!) and was able to pay for my first car out right, all by the age of 23. When I talk about my experience with clients I am truly amazed by what I’ve achieved, but at the time it just seemed like the norm. It was what needed to be done so I did it.
My journey into blogging began when I became a mother, I’ll be first to admit I am no *Super Mum* trying to find the right balance between my family and business I won’t lie was hard work and at times still is. But since becoming a mother not only have I learnt fantastic skills which I use in my business today, but more importantly I’ve learnt awesome techniques to get myself into the right mind-set so I can really see my goals take shape.
Being a mum doesn’t mean you have to choose between you family and business. Being a mum doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy quality time with your kids, lose your voice, lose you. As challenging as motherhood is, it builds strengths and talents you may not have known existed or have left untouched.
About Simplicity Gal

I’ve learnt and seen for myself you don’t have to fit in, follow the crowd or limit yourself depending on your environment or by what others around you are saying. I didn’t! The real truth.
